Invictus, een gedicht geschreven door William Ernest Henley, was het lievelingsgedicht van Nelson Mandela. Het inspireerde hem en bood hem troost tijdens zijn gevangenschap. Invictus betekent ‘onoverwinnelijk’.
Een gedicht kan net als muziek of film steun bieden. Ik heb het ook altijd een inspirerend gedicht gevonden en daarom hebben wij er een kaart van gemaakt.
INVICTUS
Out of the night that covers me.
Black as the Pit from pole to pole.
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
